WATER DOES NOT RESIST - IT FLOWS

AUDIOVISUAL COLLABORATION WITH CAROLIN DAUB AND EVELINE VERVLIET @ RATHAUS, LEONBERG

"Water does not resist. Water flows" Margaret Atwood

Water possesses an extraordinary ability to adapt and transform: it appears in different states of matter, reacts dynamically to external influences, and constantly finds new ways to adjust to its surroundings.

Inspired by Margaret Atwood’s words “Water does not resist. Water flows.” the project is dedicated to the mutable and reactive qualities of water. Musical compositions, improvisations, and video art enter into dialogue, creating a vivid interplay between sound and image.

Program

Improvisation I
Fausto Romitelli – Seascape (1994)
Kotoka Suzuki – While Ripples Enlace (2010)
Improvisation II
David Quaas – Bubbles (2022)

Performers
Carolin Daub – Recorder
Eveline Vervliet – Live Electronics
Egle Saka – Video Art

“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”

Margaret Atwood aus: „The Penelopiad”
